i have just got off the phone from HP Shopping uk, they have informed me that the zv6000 and zd8100 series models have been discounted

i orignally ordered my laptop on the 12th of may. HP Shopping notified me that it may take between 4 to 6 weeks before the laptop would be delieverd. Since that day i have been regularly phoning them to get an updated ETA and they have been pushing the date back everytime.

the following are my records of who and what they said.

originally was told that the order should be recevied on the 31/05/2005.

spoke to on stuart the 25th may, he gave eta for early june.

then spoke debbie around the 1st of june she said that the eta had been
pushed back to 17th of june.

spoke to jane on the 16th she said the new eta is the 22nd of june.

spoke to debbie on the 22nd of june she advised me, jane had said the laptop was to arrive on the 30th not the 22nd and that all back orders should be filled by the 1st of july.

spoke to sharon on the 30th of june she said that as of yet they have not
arrived and that there wasn't an eta available for when stock would be
    available.

spoke to debbie again on the 1st of july as sharon didn't get back to me about a new eta and was told that the all the Zv6000 and Zv8000 series models had been discountined, and that i could cancel my order or wait a week untill the new model came out were upon i would be transitioned to the new model of the equivalent spec!...

does anyone now whats going on in the world of hp???... because it seems that hp shopping uk doesn't!!!!....

It's doubtful that HP has discontinued the ZV6000 & ZD8000 worldwide as they just came out a few months ago. It's possible on the UK, they just decided to refresh the models they currently have. Maybe jump up the config a bit or make some minor changes and then increment the model number a bit (eg. zv6000 would now be the zv6050) as I have seen this done in Canada. It's possible they're just in short supply because of high demand.

Yeah I think they only sell pre configured versions in the UK..so they might just be refreshing the spces to something higher.

pastkev, i know what your trying to get at... i am just re-iterating what the saleswoman from hp shopping uk said to me.

but i think miner was is right, i think they are just in the process of updating the range. he also right in the uk hp only sells pre-configured models, we cant do any custom building

I also noticed for the first time this weekend that Bestbuy and Circuit City no longer have any zv6000 series laptops for sale online. I hope HP is just updating the line like you guys mentioned. Perhaps with a better GPU among other things  .

I think it's simply a lack of supply (at the bigbox retailers)
