i know the hdx comes with a good graphics card, but it is possible to swap it for a new 8800GTX and a new processor.

oh and one more thing, how good is this thing at cooling down?

No it is not upgradable. The 8800 GTS is the best you can get.

But you can upgrade the processor. Though disassembling the HDX is a big to do. They didn't design it for easy disassembly. Takes about 3 to 4 hours depending on skill and care. The processor socket and GPU MXM face the bottom of the unit and it requires that the motherboard be removed in order to access them. I speak from experience having applied Arctic Silver 5.

The MXM slot appears to be somewhat standard. But there would be no BIOS update to support it even if it were possible. As for cooling, the HDX cools extremely well. Plus you can set the GPU fan to always run in the BIOS. Not that one needs to though.

Non overclocked, I get 7900-7930 3D Mark06 on Vista x64. Will try nTune which should yield 1000+ points on a 100mhz overclock both ram and core.
