The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    when i go to change startup items in msconfig it will let me but after i do if i right click on start button, properties, change icons in taskbar like to hide them or not. the screen just starts flashing and the taskbar starts to dissapear until i restart, then the computer is fine until i try to change icons in notification area again. i have 3 other laptops and never had this problem before. any ideas?

    it seems to work fine when fingerprint reader is disabled
