Hi, I bought one of these monsters a couple of months ago. Downgraded (?) it to XP pro sp3 and got everything working except the IR remote control. Anyone have an answer to where I could find such a thing? Is this possible? I've been bugging hp like crazy for not supporting xp on these machines but they won't budge :( ANy help is appreciated!

Why on earth would you turn a beautiful machine like an HDX Dragon into an XP piece of crap? Just the thought of that makes me puke. It's one of the best Vista systems that HP's ever put out and has virtually no problems when running Vista.

HP doesn't support XP downgrades on ANY machine that was originally designed for Vista - they make that perfectly clear all over their Support site, and there are always at least 1 or more drivers that cannot be found because they don't exist.

You can post your question in the HDX Dragon Owner's lounge, as the rest of us Dragon users are the best community for such knowledge. Don't be surprised if you get a similar reaction though. Some have opted to install a dual-boot Vista/XP setup, but not XP only.

Too bad you opted for XP - you could've upgraded your RAM capability to 8gb like the rest of us. Oh well.

No one has been able to get the ITE IR to fully work in XP. Nor the Subwoofer. Plenty of folks have tried. There just isn't OEM support for it. At this point, it's probably a lost cause.

HP (Inventec) didn't have XP in mind when they designed the HDX.

Thank you 2.0. Cybervisions...I don't know how you use your laptop. But I've got several hundred dollars invested in sequensers like Steinberg Cubase which doesn't work in a satisfactory way in Vista. I had familyphotos, luckily backed up, and a lot of other stuff that all disappeared when my laptop suddenly stopped booting with Vista. Since my downgrade to XP, which doesn't have the child diseases Vista does, I haven't had a single problem. Puke all you like :)
