Just did a fresh install of Vista Home Premium on my dv6000t...but now when I try to activate Vista online, it's telling me the Product Key is invalid! Is it absolutely necessary? If so, how do I fix this?

Ideally you should have backed up the oem activation key as per this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=120228

Since it is now lost, you will have to call MS to activate when prompted. The key on the os label was not the one HP used to activate it with originally (they use their own).

Odd, it worked for me without a problem. Did you change any hardware?

You can always do the full system restore, then run my backup tools. That should allow you to get the activation and the correct key.
