Ok so im using this guide http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=120228
and i'v been doing some research on doing a "clean install" on my dv2500t that just arrived yesterday from hp home store (and actually early!) which was awesome! Anyway i did not receive a copy of "vista anytime" so i went to best buy and staples just a couple hours ago "compusa no longer in my area" to obtain a copy so i can get this thing cleaned up, but no luck, no one seem to know what i was looking for. So i get home and start looking again and i see that comp usa for 5 bucks will send you a copy. So finally my question: comp usa (online) offers a 32-bit and 64-bit to chose from. I just read that you can turn your vista premium from 32-bit to 64 if your doing a clean install, which i will be. My current OS is premium 32-bit, what would you guys prefer in my situation, and am i headed in the right direction??? Thx for helping me out!

I don't think you can download the necessary data to create your own Anytime Upgrade DVD. I believe you can call HP or purchase one at like CompUSA for $5-6.

Yes, you can always buy an OEM or Retail DVD, but I don't think you or any of us would want to spend that much money. The Recovery discs will still install the bloatware, so I think the Anytime Upgrade CD will be your best shot.

stick to 32 bit for the time being is my recomendation. not enough programs or hardware support the 64 bit.

I thought I would bump this post up since CompUSA just announced they will be closing all stores and their internet sales etc.. The original sticky to purchase the compusa anytime vista DVD is still good and its only 5 bucks.. they did not charge shipping for me. So if anyone interested in getting this from Compusa for cheap.. better hurry.. here is the sticky thread for clean install on HP machines with the anytime vista disc.. scroll down to the 32 or 64 bits versions of the anytime upgrade at compusa. Compusa says they will close after the holidays.

I burned my own windows install/upgrade dvd from the contents in my hard drive. Refer to orev's "Clean install with no activation" for more information

Some billionaire from Mexico owns Compusa.. he lost over a 700 million trying to revive Compusa. He sold it to some company that is going to liquidate the business.. Just go to google news.. there are articles all over the place about this.. They just announced this yesterday.. But it was coming. This company has been taking a dive for years. High prices and probably the worst customer service one could imagine. But the anytime upgrade disc from them is a good deal and worth the 5 bucks.
