    Hey all,
my 3.5 year old HP HDX X16-1255EE laptop has devloped a problem. When I turn on the screen it starts out dim and starts quickly alternating between the lowest and seconds lowest resolution and keeps on flickering. sometimes it turns off after 5 seconds or after 5 minutes and when i close and open the lid turns back on. If i mess with the lid move it around or push and pulll the screen it sometimes gets worse and sometimes springs back to life working full power. Once it did work like that for 5+ hours.
I sent it to an "Authorized" repair center and after about a month they said they could not find a screen... well after getting it back i figured out they didnt even open the laptop and they just looked and saw the screen has problems and decided to change the whole "LCD kit" as they called it and were unsuccessful finding one. Now it is gone off to another repair shop ... and it takes them 4 days to diagnose ... wth..
so can someone say what is the problem here ? If there are parts i can fix at home i would gladly do it cuz laptop repair ppl here are comparable to my 6 year old cousin who does not know much bout computers.

    Thanx in advance

it could be a number of things... but it sounds like the backlight on the LCD display itself is going.

You might be better off replacing the entire screen though, or just getting a new laptop.

I would hit up Ebay or google around for parts.

they changed both the inverter and the LCD.
I feel ripped off but it ended up being cheaper than me ordering some online.

thank you for your help guys.
