600/1200/450 works really well for me.
Here is a very good guide: http://www.guru3d.com/index.php?page=rivatuner -
hmm what do you mean by "600/1200/450"? i looked through the program and the link itself and i cant find anywhere to input these numbers... help
Alex -
Its the mhz speeds of the gpu, look at the guide i linked to and you should understand, the stock clocks in mhz are 500/1000/400.

will overclocking the video card "wear" it out faster? or even risk my system of physical damage?

hey "prodrive7105" i read all the guides provided by the site but for some reason my rivatuner does not have "fan" tab in the system settings window.. one more thing, what do you mean by "500/1000/400"? the reason i ask is the following:
my core clock goes from 250 - 750 (so im guessing when you say 500 you mean core clock, which is within the range that is available to me)
my memory clock goes from 200 - 600 (when you say 1000 i assume you mean memory clock but for some reason mine only goes upto 600)
and then there are no more sliders for me to modify.. so what do you mean by 400, what is this number?
i've added a screenshot to show you what im looking atthanks for your patience!

I dont think you can adjust the fan settings with laptops, I can't either.
1200 is shader clock, I can adjust that on my computer. But the only numbers you have to worry about then is 600 and 450, 600 is core clock 450 memory clock.
note: Ive only been overclocking for a week or so and all I know ive googels up and read here so dont ask me anything to technical -
oh ok i see. I went ahead and changed the core and memory clock to your settings. How did you manage to change the shader clock?
One more thing, im guessing in order to have the overclocking enabled i must have rivatuner open right? and when i close it (lets say for battery saving reasons) it should stop, right?
many thanks!

Shader clock was there as default for me, I dont know how to "turn it on", sorry.
I dont think that you have to run rivatuner to keep the clock settings. -
hmm thats wierd that i dont have the shader clock available considering we have the same computer and more specifically the same video card.. anyone have any ideas?
Alex
