    thanks for all of your help,i hope this is the place to ask this, i drop my hp 6803s not much damage done but it says bootmgr is missing i have done some start up test when i do hard disk test smart check-passed short dst-failed ,when i try and boot from the disk it dosnt work or maybe iam not waiting long enough for it took work i waited over an with like dark drak blue screen then the mouse comes up then i wait more and still nothing.thanks.

    OMG, No punctuation FTL.

    If it fails the DST (Drive Self Test), your drive is hobbled, but not dead. You are gonna have to call the manufacturer if it is still under warranty.

    remove the hd cover
    remove the hd from the cable
    put back the cable
    put back the cover
    try rebooting it again

    Alternatively, try to boot with a Linux CD and see if any of the data is salvageable. Alternatively, try to use the repair option under the Windows Install DVD.

    I would try to use a Windows Boot CD to use the recovery feature
