    help setting up... dv 1000?

    hey.. i just bought mine dv 1000 and was lost on how to go about setting up my laptop.. how long do i need to charge the battery as well as which cd's needs to be installed and stuff.. if some one can put a brief setup.. that would be great... sorry my 1st laptop so.. kind lost and wana do thing the right way.. please help

    there should be a Quick Start guide from HP, no? I've never bought a laptop that doesn't include such a thing.

    I don't have the dv1000, but if you're a basic user and don't want to tweak the OS and machine for performance, just accept all of the defaults which means plug the laptop in and turn it on. There's really nothing else to it!

    I would charge it to 100% and there is nothing for you to install to get the computer working. Everything you need for the computer to run will already be installed. Just charge the battery and turn it on and you are good to go!

    You may want to remove some programs already installed on it that will only slow down your PC.

    Actually, I don't own one right now but am planning on getting one once I accumulate some more funds for me purchase. I've actually used my friend's a little bit and fell in love with it and plan on buying one soon.

    There is a lot of junk preinstalled on this thing! That is the one plus of Gateway...Fairly clean harddrives!
