i have a presario v6000 and evertime i disconnect the ac adapter my laptop's screen turns lighter. everytime time i plug it in it lights up. could it be because my laptop might be old?

Well I know when I unplug my laptop it dims the screen to save battery. Then if I plug it in It brightens up again. It is suppose to do that. but to brighten up when you unplug is strange.
