Today I bought a HP dv8000 and this is my first notebook. After creating the recovery disk I realized that there is a lot of preinstalled software I do not need or want. What is the best way to get rid of this software? I am new to all this and do not know much about computers.Any help would be apreciated. Thanks

Hello and welcome to the forums. :D

Hmm...there are a few options for you. The easiest one would be to go into the start menu and see if you can un-install some of the programs. See if there is an option to uninstall the progams. If not go into the C drive and find the program folders. Look for the specific program folders and see if they have a un-install program inside. Another option would be to download ccleaner. One of the options lets you uninstall programs. The final option would be to move all the of program files into the recycle bin. This last option can cause problems but it should work.

You could also try using the recovery disk. However it might just reinstall all the programs you don't want. :p

Make sure you use ccleaner. It will help speed up your laptop after you remove programs. Plus it cleans cookies and the registry.

    Hope this helps.

    1) Here is ccleaners site. http://www.ccleaner.com/

    2) It depends. lol If you manually remove stuff by drag and droping into the recycle bin you might miss some files. If the program itself has an un-install option it "should" remove all the files. However sometimes this way even leaves files on you laptop. Use ccleaner to search for issues and fix those. I think there is a guide to using it on thier site. It is pretty easy to learn but post any questions here.
