I ordered a v2000z notebook with mail-in reate online at 1/25, it is shipped to me today. After unpacking, I found it is a v2000 instead of v2000z as expected, the screen is not brightview, the wireless is not the 125hsm/speedbooster. I felt very unhappy, because I have been waiting for this notebook for weeks, a lot of work depend on this notebook, now it seems I will continue to wait for the endless changing. To make things worse, the mail-in rebate will expire within 45 days after purchase date. I think hp can not treat me like that, can I do something?![]()

Mistakes happen, but if your order form clearly says v2000z then that's what you should get!
I'd recommend keeping your cool when you call them to set up the return, but they can't (and won't try to, I hope) deprive you of your rebate. The clock should restart when your new notebook ships.
Anyway, though, I recommend keeping your cool because you catch more flies with honey, ya know? Since this is their error, they should be willing to work with you. Ask if you can get a discount for your trouble, or maybe a free processor upgrade (or HD, or screen... whatever upgrade tickles your fancy).
Edit: While I am a lawyer-type guy, this advice is based almost entirely on my experience as a consumer... it works with a jury, though, too: people are more likely to go along with somebody they like! -
Yeah, this one is simple. Call them immediately, and have them issue whatever is needed to return it AND cover shipping. You should definitely not have to pay to return ... um ... something you didn't order.
In fact, techincally, in many states, I believe one is allowed to keep anything a company sends them unsolicited. If you wanted to press your luck and get laughed out of court, you could try to get them to send you the one you ordered in addition to this one, because it was sent without solicitation. Again, it wouldn't go far, but it's interesting to think about.

Call them and if you get the feeling the person on the other side is non-cooperative hang up and dial again to get a different guy. Sometimes, there's a BIG difference in the way customers are handled; that's why some people hate HP's support and some love it.
btw, on the lid of v2000z it is written v2000, so be sure it's the pentium notebook! -
IMPORTANT: On the lid of my v4000t, it says "V4000" But I assure you its a v4000t because it has the ATI X700 and everything else I configured. I ordered my notebook from the HP website. Where did you order yours from?
help, hp mess things up
