hi i have a Compaq presario f500 and its pretty warm right now. the touch pad is pretty hot. and the bottom of it feels like an oven =/ i know its not because of a lack of air, because i have it on my desk. and my CPU is running at about 130 degree Fahrenheit, is all of this normal? and my laptop stays plugged up almost 95% of the time, and the laptop stays running for at least 10 hours a day nonstop, on a weekend were i don't have school it stays on for way more. i have 3 CPU fans and I'm thinking about making a little stand to put this laptop on to keep it cool. what do you guys advise me to do for the best interest of my laptop? thanks in advance.

Well, 54C is around normal for an X2 that idles for long periods of time. These newer HP laptops do get quite warm with prolonged use, and mine starts cooking when I do long sessions of video reencoding.

I usually prop up the back end with something to increase the airflow, as I don't have the big 12-cell battery or a laptop cooler. Also periodically check the fan grate underneath to be sure that dust is not starting to clog it up.

Like you, my laptop runs on AC about 95% of the time (as I use it like a desktop). Even so, I have not had one of these HP units fail due to heat (yet).
