    Hey guys,

Still playing around with my Zx5000.. I ordered it with the 12 cell battery, but battery life still seems really crappy. According to the fuel guage, I am getting about 1.5 hours out of my battery. is it possible that HP accidently shipped my notebook with an 8 cell? I've read on this forum that other people can get 2.5-3 hours out of their batt?!?!

This is while watching a DVD, and the brightness is turned down a couple notches.

I posted a small list of P/N's for the 12 Cell batteries a while ago, but can't find the post. You can try looking on the battery itself, it may say 8 or 12 cell on it.
If you want, another thing you can do is give me your exact model P/N on the under side of your unit and the replacement P/N from the battery and I'll be able to find out if it's an 8 or 12 for you.

    Ok,

    the laptop P/N is DP217AV

the stuff on the battery is:

    SPS-346971-001
    date code 7J0474
    on a longer sticker: GC86508SP60-470FVM

    on the actual case:
    14.8V 6.0AHr
series model HSTNN-IB03 and in the corner with a box around it CY.

a yellow sticker on the side reveals SES 04 27 D SP PA.

    Spets,

This is what I found for your specific model:

    350836-001 250.00 14.8V battery pack - 2.2Ah, 12-cell, lithium-ion (Li-Ion) - Rechargeable

    371913-001 205.00 14.8V battery pack - 4.4A, 2.2Ahr, 8-cell, lithium-ion (Li-Ion) - Rechargeable

    371915-001 225.00 14.8V battery pack - 6.0A, 2.0Ahr, 12-cell lithium-ion (Li-Ion) - Rechargeable

This is what I found for your secific SPS # for your battery:

    346971-001 14.8V battery pack - 2.0Ahr, 12-cell lithium-ion (Li-Ion) - Rechargeable

So from the looks of it, you do have a 12 Cell battery. P/N 350836-001 is a higher rated battery & should give more runtime.

    Thanks alot for your help.

I'll just have to see how this goes. maybe I should underclock the video card or something when I'm not gaming.

Well, that could be the problem. The battery will probably give you the 3 hours of runtime if everything is at default settings. Overclocking the GPU will cause it to use more power.

I currenlty have an HP ZX5180US in which the battery - 346971-001 Series Model HSTNN-IB03 no longer holds a charge or recharges for that matter... Does anyone know a good place to get this exact battery or the recommended battery P/N 350836-001?

    Thanks in advance...

Also is Battery # HP DP309A Lithium-ion Battery for zx5000 Series the same as any of these that were listed???

If it's within 1 year from your date of purchase, HP covers their batteries for this 1 year period. If it's not holding the charge, just call them and they'll send you a replacement under warranty (if it's within 1 year of your purchase).
