i received my hp dv9500 today and everything s fine and working great. I have a question though.. how can i know if i received the right battery? I ordered a "High Capacity 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery " which i heard was a little bigger than the standard one. How can i know i got the right one? the reason i ask is because it does not seem to last as long as it should and the size seems like a standard one. Help me out here, maybe a picture would help. Thanks!

avillabon I recommend you to be carefull with the battery plan you use when on battery. I only get the 2:55 hrs time that the 8 cell high capacity recommend when using the Power Save option. I also did some modifcations to the battery plan settings to make sure my battery las longer.

How about looking up the part number at the HP web-site?

One indication that you have the high-capacity battery: go the the HP web site, search for "HP Parts Store" in the search box (I don't know why HP makes this so hard to find), click on the RHS link to "HP Parts Store-HP Computer Parts...", keep drilling down the pages until you narrow in on the dv9500t (US, Notebooks & Tablet PCs, etc) and then bookmark that page for the next time OR just enter your battery sticker part number (I think it should be 434674-001) when the first "Search by part number" option is available. Sometimes the part description that shows up is "SPS-BATTERY 8C 2.55AH" (which is consistent with the high-capacity version--the regular version is 2.2AHr) and sometimes the part description is "Battery pack (high capacity) - 8-cell lithium-ion (Li-ion), 2.55Ah, 73Wh" -- the "73Wh" is also likely printed on the back of your battery.
