on hp dv6000t? I do not see any software, or how to turn it on or take pictures etc.
-
It's primarily for videoconferencing, I believe...you use it in programs like MSN and AIM. I don't think it's designed for taking pictures, but that's just a matter of finding some software.
-
It says that it can be used for still pictures? Anyway, how do i get this thing on?
-
apparently from quickplay (I posted same Q 2 days ago - do a search)
On another forum though, I read that with Vista you can't use it to take pics so Im confused -
msidni, where do I go in quickplay, sorry I am a newb
-
I have a DV9000t, running XP pro. But when in Quickplay, I don't see how you can use the webcam.
Apparently in XP pro, there is a webcam demo thing you can run, afterwards a webcam icon appears on the desktop. Running that program allows you take snaps. -
Yes, you can use the WebCam through QuickPlay, and yes, it works under Vista.
To access QuickPlay, just press the "blue QuickPlay button" next to the power button. If it doesn't load QuickPlay, just do "Start" - "All Programs" - then you will see QuickPlay listed there. If you still can't find it just do a search, you will find the short-cut.
Once launched QuickPlay, click on the 2nd icon from left (between DVD and TV icon), then double-click on "HP Pavilion WebCam" from the left side panel, then you will see the blue LED light lit and you should see yourself on the screen. (Double-click "yourself" to enlarge image)
To take a picture or record video, just press the corresponding buttons on the top. (the red circle icon is for recording video (press "Stop" icon to stop recording), the camera icon is for, well, camera)
Videos and pictures are saved at:
Pictures -- C:\Users\Public\Pictures\My Snapshots
Videos -- C:\Users\Public\Videos\HP Webcam
Have Fun! -
If you're running Vista, you can't take snaps. Download Skype to see the webcam in action though (in the test webcam area)

Well, currently displayed in the screen shot is the Vista Photo Gallery, and it seems the QuickPlay is in the wrong format or something wrong with the shortcut.
Just go to:
C:\Program Files\HP\QuickPlay
and see if you have QuickPlay installed or not.
If yes, then double click on "QPMenu.exe", and that should bring up QuickPlay. And later you can make a shortcut to it.
EDIT:
My mistake, the correct main QuickPlay.exe should be "QP.exe", but either way, it will work. Good luck!
And this article should be pinned:

hmmm, i already knew that we can use the webcam through messenger services (i use MSN) and quickplay, but i was hoping someone had found another third party software we could use our built in webcam with...
-
i also have an issue with my dv9000's webcam. whenever i run a recorded video, it seems that it's on fast forward but the audio runs at normal speed? what's causing this and what can i do to fix it?
-
You can use Dorgem to do stuff with your webcam too. It's open source and free.

thanks for the tip. dorgem does work, but im not able to use the preview to see before i take a picture, it just shows me a blank
any ideas/tips? otherwise its a great, small, simple, and to the point software! -
Quickplay 3.2 works fine for me for the webcam.
-
Just go to my computer and you would be able to see the web cam icon. Double click on the icon, and you will be able to take pictures there.
-
On my dv9207us that I did a clean install of Vista on, with the webcam drivers installed properly according to Vista, Dorgen pops up an error saying "Failed to connect to device!" Any ideas?
-
-
after you take a videohow do you delete it from the library?
-
There is a problem with the internal camera. I am using it mainly for Yahoo Messenger. After sometime, it will stop working. When you try to re-initialize it, you get an error on YM that the device is not connected. I think this built in webcam needs a driver update.
-
I have a dv9207us. I did a clean install of windows vista to get rid of the blotware.
The webcam, quick play buttons did not work. After reading everything on the forums I tried something.
1. I uninstalled the quick play buttons and quick play program and rebooted,
2. I downloaded service pack 35813 and service pack 34236 and installed them.
3. Rebooted the system and all is working well.
The webcam now shows up in quick play and I even have a webcam icon on the desktop.
Just thought I would share what I did. -
Where did you download SP 35813 and 34236? Can you provide link? Thanks!
-
Just make sure you have the webcam driver installed.
