how do i fix this laptop? HELP! HPdv6208nr

hi.
i have an HPdv6208nr. it is 3 years old. warranty expired. never had a problem till now. laptop turns on, lights and fan come on for about 7 seconds, and then it restarts and keeps doing the same thing. nothing ever comes up on the screen, it stays blank. i hear the disk drive try to start up but then it stops.
i've tried pressing the "f" keys.
if i hold down control, alt, delete for a second..the lights STAY ON. but there is no noise from the fan or disk drive.

the thing is..this happened once before. i tired to fix it and couldn't. then one day i just tried to turn it on for the hell of it, and it worked! for about a few weeks it was fine and then it died again.

is there anything i can do? any free downloadable boot or recovery or bios disk that i can make on ANOTHER computer? please help! thanks!

 

nVidia MCP Northbridge BGA Failure. Part needs to be reflowed to restore board functionality.

Lots of places on eBay offering the service for $60-$120.

hi windrake, thanks for responding. i am not too knowledgeable about computers.."nVidia MCP Northbridge BGA" is this a driver problem..or a fan problem that relates to the motherboard?
