I my self am a PC builder, however, I have just purchased a HP laptop. The model is the DV5-1157CA. I see a lot of threads based round the DV5z or t and so on. As My model has none of those letters at the end, should I assume it is one or the other? or is it just a Dv5 model that does not have one of them..

You have a dv5t. If its Intel based then its a dv5t, if AMD then its a dv5z.
