how hard is it? do you have to really open up the notebook, such as taking out the keyboard and such. how much do these usually cost. anyone with a similar notebook v6000?

If it's anything like the dv2xxx series it's quite hard. I just did that and it's not something I would recommend for someone who doesn't have experience in taking apart laptops. Look in the Service and Maintenance manual at HP.

It seems like its identical to my machine, only go ahead if you're confident. The module is listed as 397923-002, but I used the module 397923-001 that I bought of ebay with a short cable, it's a snugg fit and you also need two screws that are listed in the guide for my machine but not in the one above.

The bluetooth module is a separate part from the wireless LAN card. It is located inbetween the touchpad and the front audio/infrared jacks. So, you will have to remove the keyboard and the top cover to access it.

how exactly do you remove the keyboard? and how do you get a hold of the bluetooth module? does hp actually give you the module if you ask and give them the part number?

You can order online from the HP Parts store...
    http://h20141.www2.hp.com/hpparts/default.asp

The service manual lists the part number for the module. Search through the parts store for the part and you can buy online if it is available. If it shows it is out of stock then call and ask for availability. Older parts are typically hard to come by but since the V3000/dv2000 are still new the part should be available online.

They dont just sell the Bluetooth cable but they bundle it with a cable kit which costs $63(430474-001). If you want just the Bluetooth cable look around ebay.
