    Hi guys..

    first, if i posted in the wrong forums.. im sorry..

    being how i never sold a lappy before i need help on the right price range before i post on market place or ebay or craigslist.

    but anyways...
    im looking to sell my hp hdx 16 -1140us.

    i want something smaller, so i set my heart on the envy 14 coming out later this month.

    * 16-inch LCD screen (true 16:9)
    * 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 processor
    * 500 GB hard drive
    * 4 GB RAM (8 GB maximum)
    * Dual-layer Lightscribe DVD±R drive
    * Draft-N Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n) and Bluetooth
    * Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT graphics (up to 2302 MB total)
    * Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit)
    * Weighs 7.06 pounds

    it is in MINT! condition.

    ive used the keyboard maybe 10 percent of its life (~1 year since i use an external)

    never dropped, no scratches, everything works.
    i have a copy of windows 7 HP installed with 95% of all the preinstalled crap out.

    im also throwing in a nice belkin shoulder bag and about 10 legit games (crysis w/ expansions, fear 1 and 2 w/ expansions, orange box, bioshock, fallout 3 w/ expansions.. etc.. ) also a apple bluetooth keyboard, and and iHome laser wireless mouse.

    i have the box and all cds/documentations for it, with the win 7 Hp hdx wins 7 drivers cd.

    i paid ~1200 for it a year ago in hopes to get aleast 700 for it

    is this a reasonable price? thank you..

    Look at eBay prices to get a ballpark figure. Googling HDX 16 ebay will give you some past sold auction prices also.

    you should be able to get about 600, if you market it well.

    it's technology, so prices dont depend much on the specs. A year means a LOT in tech

    I see new i3 machines available for $450 and i5 machines for $550.

    I personally think you'll be fortunate to get $500- regardless of what you paid for it last year. No one cares about your 'investment' when they can buy new machines for the same or lower price. Your only hope is to find a buyer who wants your specific machine Right Damned Now and is too busy/bored/stupid to shop around.

    It's brutal.

    As the old saw goes, its worth what someone will pay for it. I'd second the google the model number and see what comes up. that should give you an idea of what the general market is. Remember, one advantage you have, you know THAT one WORKS LOL! That's worth a lot where more than one mfg seems to be throwing a lot of *chit* out onto the market. The legit games add value also, especially for someone who is looking at it as a gift for a recent grad (marketing hint hint hint).

    and throwing in some freebies (stuff which is still worthwhile but you dont need) could be a good idea to jack up its marketability.

    No way. By itself it is still worth at least $500, possibly a little more.

    A picture would be helpful to judge but I'd say $500 is probably what you can get

    souskei: It's 1080p isn't it? Well there aren't so many cheap laptops with full hd, decent CPU and GPU for a reasonable price... atleast in Europe, dunno how's it in USA - in EU the cheapest Full HD laptop is a studio 1558 for around 1200$... and with lowend HD 4570 graphics... but its up to you how much you can flay ur buyer ^^

    is it this one? http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-HP-Pavilion-HDX16-Notebook.16712.0.html

    720p is not FullHD. FullHD is 1920x1080 or better. 720 is simply HD, or 1366x768. A pretty low resolution for a 16" display, IMHO. But you still may be able to get $600+ out of it with all those games if you can find someone who wants to get into gaming.

    seriously get the 500 offer

    you won't be able to sell it for more than that. I bought my laptop with better specs than your for 700.

    Aside that the HDX 16 is not such a good laptop, nor is the 9600gt a good gpu, and your processor will lose in comparison to a lowly i3....

    so... take what you can get
