This is info from an old post by someone else about how to boot from the recovery partition who had a situation similar to yours. You may want to try it.

"Try this. Go to start, right click on computer, click manage. Then in the window that pops up, double click storage, then disc management. Then right click on your recovery partition and click mark partition as active. Then try restarting. Normally, it should boot straight into the recovery partition. Warning: this may leave you with a computer not being able to boot into an operating system, so beware and use this as a last choice if you're scared. However, it's worked for my old hp pavilion dv2xxx and my dell studio 15".
