pretty ugly jutting out the bottom like that. does the laptop tilt like a table with uneven legs? uncomfortable on your lap? please share your experiences. :D

It vents the laptop better and you get 5 hours of run time, What more could you ask for. The notebook gets pretty warm anyway. if is is sitting flat it gets even warmer.

It's also comfortable when carrying the laptop. The only downside is that the 12 cell is heavier.

The 12 cell is heaver but it is elevated to let the heat out and it gives you alot more time.

Yeah I like the 12cell. The extra battery life is very nice. I have never had a problem with the laptop being unstable while typing.

perhaps it is a little bit harder on the wrists since it is inclined like that? i like to collapse those little extendable legs under most desktop keyboards.

Usually it's the opposite ... inclined keyboards are much better for ergonomics.

    I agree.
The 12 cell battery should help for ease of typing.
And with it's elevation, it should allow ur laptop to cool more efficiently.
The only downside is the little extra weight.

the 12-cell sitting awkwardly on my lap and I think it's a little bit too heavy
If I can do it all over again, I would choose 6-cell instead.

P.S. My notebook is compaq v2000z and have been using it for about 1yr.

Hp dv 2000t does not look nice with 12 cell battery.it makes my laptop as a sexy girl with heavy bumps like 24--56--24 . it becomes heavy with that
and it becomes uncomfortable to put on lap.
but upside is it helps in cooling and I don't have to carry pad every time.
I think they can make it more comfortable if height of battery can be somehow adjusted with increasing th width.then it becomes more comfortable on lap and while carring.

It shouldn't be on your lap in the first place or on a bed or couch! Bad for cooling! Should always be on a hard/flat surface!

The 12 cell is great for better cooling and battery run-time. Only negative is it weighs more. Fine by me. :)

I have the 12 cell on a Compaq v3000z and it makes typing a little more comfortable. It should also allow for better ventilation and cooling. Don't know how much more battery time I'll get, but when I do, I'll let you know.

I got a pair of 12-cells and traded one of them for a 6-cell. There's no clear winner between the 2, so I wanted to have both. I use the 12-cell 90% of the time I'd say. Only times I slap on the 6-cell is if I'm going to be using the computer as an actual "laptop" around the house or in bed, or if I'm traveling with the computer and know that I won't be away from an outlet long or have to use the computer that much. Everything else stated in this thread is right on target.

Cooling intakes are on the bottom, using the unit on soft surfaces will block the intakes.... and it's going to suck in all kinds of lint, hair...

Adding to this, heat destroys things faster, greatly speeds up the wear & tear of your componets inside especially the Mobo & CPU. So if your putting your notebook on a bed or sofa, your asking for trouble in the long run.

they have cooling trays for laptops,

I have the v3000z and 12 cell batt, I left it on all night long on a table, with
a 3D rendering program running using the GPU and CPU - the CPU was at 100%
use all night long, it was "all most" warm to the touch, felt all over the laptop,
I had also changed the power settings to force the laptop screen and
hard drive, everything to stay on, and set the GPU to max power usage
    - it was running on AC,

Did that as a burn in and test

I am not shure, but I think having that extra room under the laptop helped
    keep it cool

I pretty much only use mine on my lap, that was why I bought one.
