Can they work together? If not, which one is better - should I buy HDD WITH protection and disable hp driveguard or should I leave hp driveguard on and buy HDD WITHOUT protection.

hp 3D driveguard gets me many false alarms (like when I close lid while traveling on train - I want just listen to mp3s, even small bumps stops the disk for a long while and mp3 stops. - when the lid is open it works fine). Does seagate's freefall protection work better? Or does it have any settings? Because hp 3d driveguard has just ON/OFF feature.
    Thank you
