hey my girlfriend bought a laptop a couple of months ago its an HP 530 with pentium D (centrino duo) and gma945 (i guess) and the problem is that the battery is not keeping the charge and i guess this doen't have to happen until the laptop gain some age. Is there is a general problem with this series or its just a ramdom failure of HP.

    Thanks in advance

As you are aware, all notebook batteries come with a charge cycle life that will natrually diminish over time as you use the laptop leading to the eventual decrease of the how long the battery will hold a charge. With regular usage, it is common to start seeing the first signs of this between 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 years down the road from purchase. One thing people do that speeds up the process of "battery decay" is having the battery plugged in while the notebook is plugged in and running off the wall for long period of time. This is because the charge is still being relayed through the battery. Essentially, it is still running on the battery, but the plug provides a constant renewal of electricity to keep the battery "full". That is why it is generally recommended that for extended use at home for instance, plug it in and take out the battery. It will still run without a problem with the battery out and it helps to fight this problem.

All this being said, all HP notebooks do come with a standard 1 year limited battery warranty. Assuming you bought this from HP or a authorized reseller, you should be able to contact HP support and explain the problem so that you can get the battery replaced.

battery will start to degrade once it leaves the factory. average life span for batter to function properly is 3 years from the date of manufacture. you can check the battery manufacturing date.
