    I tried to upgrade my HDX18 - 1390eb from 2x 2GB to 2x 4GB RAM
    but, it doesn't work

this is what I put in:
    2x
    Corsair CM3X4GSD1066 PC3-8500 4GB 7-7-7-20 204pin SODIMM

this is what was in the laptop original:

    2x
    Samsung 2GB SODIMM 1067Mhz 80ce (PC 3 8500)

    Code:
    # Processor
    # Front side bus / HyperTransport 1066 MHz
    # processorcache:6 MB
    # Processor model:Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000
    # Processor-clockspeed:2.000 MHz
    # Processor:Intel Core 2 Quad

running on: Windows 7 ultimate x64

    what could be the problem?

    I tried running it on 1 x 4GB , this worked.
    I tried 1x 4GB and 1x 2GB , this didn't work
I allready tried taking out the battery and holding the on/off button 30sec. No succes.

The computer doesn't boot up at all when i put in the 8GB, black screen. but i can hear then fan blowing an the laptop makes start-up noises.

    ok, thx for fast reply!
    so, this one should work.

    Corsair PC2-6400 Modules
    VS4GBKIT800D2 PC2-6400 4GB Kit 5-5-5-18 240pin DIMM

just to be sure to get it right this time.

EDIT, the laptop is still working with the 2x 2GB without a problem, so i hope nothing is broken, or wouldn't i notice it at first?

    EDIT 2 : PC2-6400, 800-MHz, DDR2 , is this much faster then 2x 2GB DDR3?

8GB RAM won't improve things unless you are maxing 4GB out. If you want a real kick in the pants, get an SSD. It will improve things quite a bit as far as the OS operations and read/write operations. Even boot time will be markedly improved.
