Download and install QuickLaunch. Vista or XP, depending on which you have.

u can do two things too solve this; either do a system recovery OR shut down the computer, unplug the adapter, take out the battery, and press the POWER button for abt 45 seconds, THEN reinsert the batter and all and start the computer, they should be working now

On one of my customers HP Compaq 6910p, the quick touch buttons above the keyboard stopped working. He tried umar's suggestion; "shut down the computer, unplug the adapter, take out the battery, and press the POWER button for abt 45 seconds, THEN reinsert the batter and all and start the computer" and it helped! Thanks!

Let me tell you - you're awesome. I wrangled on the phone and the chat service with HP tech support - two reps admitted they have never even handled a Pavilion - all they do is search a data base. They told me to send the computer in, they would wipe the drive and then fix the problem. Your solution worked like a charm. Why the bleep don't HP people know their own products!!!! umar, if you ever want to comment on my posts at demystifyingdigital.com (my column is the Digital Grandparent) - I'd welcome your input!

    Hi there!

I had the same problem on my Pavilion dv5. The wireless touch button did not work.
A BIOS flash solved my problem, just download WinFlash for HP Notebook System BIOS and flash the bios.

    It works :)

I wish I would have read this thread a few months ago! I experienced the same problem, where the quick touch buttons stopped working on my dv6. I contacted HP and they told me flash my bios and do a complete restore. I tried both and nothing, so they had the laptop picked up under warranty. They claimed that nothing was wrong and the buttons worked fine?! They obviously did something, because miracles don't happen in the back of a UPS truck.

Anyways, if it happens again, I'll try all the above. That will save me from having to back up all my data and be without my PC for a week...
