    can someone tell me if the brightview option for the dv1000 is as good as the hpzd8000 series notebooks

    Yes, the image quality is the same, just the screen itself is smaller.

    From what I have read the ZD series has a better horizontal viewing angle. I personally didn't the DV1000 screen was that good (I owned it for a week). There is a term that they use that gives it a wider range (I cannot recall it). The DV1000 doesn't have a great horizontal or vertical viewing angle.
