well, after a frustrating struggle to discover that i would have to wait until april to get the thinkpad t43 i want... i've developped an interst in the hp nc6230.

cnet has a review up right now. do any of you have an opinion on hp business notebooks? i'm considering build quality, logevity, and screen quality... the components are generally the same for any other laptop i want.

Funny, I have been trying to buy a laptop since jan. and HP was the one I was waiting for. The nc8230 though. All the specs looked great, however, they finally posted a "buy" icon for the unit, but only comes with 64mb ati x600 not the 128mb option listed in specs. I did an online chat and hp said not until april! will they have a configurable model. I can't wait any more.

I am very irritated and am jumping ship to Dell. Dell is a little bulkier, but at least I can configure.

I'm sure it will be a good unit, but battery and video are very important and seems hp is not for me at this time.

    Good luck

Their business notebooks are top notch if you're willing to pay the big bucks for them. They're very sturdily built, have a very industrial IBM-ish design (based off the 2800T design from a few years ago), and best of all, they're incredibly thin and light. You can't go wrong with one of these, especially the 82XX or the 62XX.

It really depends on what the definition of good battery life is. I guess that 3 hours isn't impressive for a laptop of that class, but it's still acceptable. In all other respects, it's a very nice laptop. I would go for one of these, but it's far too similar to what I already have (Presario 2800T) both in looks and general specs.
