My uncle just sent me an email asking for help. He has forgotten his password and locked up his laptop.

    In his words
"I have an old laptop (hp compaq nx9000) which I could not use for some time as i seem to have drivelocked and i do not remember the password. when I boot the laptop it asks for driverlock passord that i do not remember. after two attempts it asks for master password that also i do not know.so i can not open it. it has Seagate ST93012A HDD 30 gig only

There is PhoenixBIOS. on entering possible driverlock password in the bios setup security tab three times, the system disabled (00007) shows up. I forgot the drivelock password . bios setup shows Driverlock master ID is16803562."

Can this be fixed by flashing the BIOS or removing motherboard battery or is this laptop toast? If it is toast, which I suspect, Can i take out the hard drive and throw it in an external enclosure and save his files? Does anyone have any experience with this?
