    hp dv1000!!!

    i currently have a pretty kick ass desktop computer i use for gaming and everything else but i want to get a laptop for portability being able to go places and type my papers i think is pretty cool... im looking at the dv1000 i really like that computer but ive heard that it has a slower based pentium m processor in it is this true?? what if i upgrade it all the way to the 1.8 pentium m processor from hp would it still be slow? how would the performance be then? ill mostly be using this laptop for word processing,dvd watching,cd listening and burning,e-mail,web browsing and instant messeging ok guys well let me know what you guys think will this laptop be good for my needs?? thanks a lot, kenny

    It really depends on your graphical usage of the system. The dv1000 does not come with a dedicated graphics solution. This will slow down some gaming and multimedia performances. The Pentium M is sufficient for most needs, but, again, some hard-core graphics solutions will bog down a little. For the price, I think that a standard PM or Athlon 64 will suite your needs just as well at about the same price point.

    On the other hand, that DVD/MP3/CD playback functionality without OS boot is sweet for a lot of travelers...

    what is a standard pm?? i know that i dont want to go with amd for various reasons so what laptops would you recomend looking into??
