Hi everybody,
I am thinking of buying this computer and I would like to ask if anyone knows what the keyboard is like? hard, soft, nice to write on,...I will probably write a lot as I work as a translator, but I also need to carry it with me when I go interpreting.
Or if you know about something better - my budget is 1200 USD.
Thanks for any advice

The best thing you could do is try it out at a store. Our description may not suit you as you may have smaller or bigger hands than us.
I personally think the keyboard is great and this computer is perfect for your budget. I think it is a full size keyboard and I found it quite confortable to type on. Good luck with your purchase! -
I meant 'cheap' not 'cheep'. I am typing on a Tungsten C Thumb keyboard, pardon my typographical error.

The keyboard is excellent. The keyboard feel is soft with no click but very comfortable in its layout. Especially nice are the media controls, although I prefer them in the front as opposed towards the screen side. The directional buttons are elliptical and feel cheep. I always had the fear that a button would come off.
The touchpad is much nicer on the Compaq V2000. I esp like the mouse buttons better on the Compaq.
The configuration you have is solid and you have made a smart budget limit. That is more than enough computer for the average user.

Nah,
The dv1000 is just a marketing gimmick about 'quickplay'.
The v2000 has much better keyboard and aesthetic design.
Also the v2000 has 5 different resolution settings.
