my question is, do i bite? is this deal better than the ones i can get at staples and OD? I'm tempted to go for a dell 630 or 700m... i think the price matches up about the same.

    thanks for any help!

It's a great price for a nice machine. I doubt you can beat that anywhere else. As to teh Dell machines, that's up to your needs.

It's not a bad price, but you actually might do a little better. I watched the Staples circulars and I jumped when they had a deal that was even better than I found on HPShopping.com with an EPP discount.

My DV1000 is close to yours except I had the 1.6Mhz centrino, 512k of RAM, Bluetooth, 12 cell battery, and remote control. I paid about $895 after rebate. I think the Staples instant price cut was $250 that week. It varies every week though, so you have to watch it.

It is a nice machine at a good price. If you want an even lower cost one, the Compaq v2000z with the Sempron CPU will be even less expenive athough battery life won't be quite as good. Might want to consider the DVD burner. Even if you don't burn movies, they are nice for backups. It will be more exspenive to upgrade latter. Good Luck.

That's a great price, one of the best deals I've seen. The dv1000 is a nice portable multimedia machine.

Yes - you should consider the DVD-burner as posted for backing and/or storing you data.
