    hi,

i own a hp dv2000 that stopped working a while ago.

the problem is the screen does not show anything when i turn it on, but the lights on the keyboard turn on and i can hear the hard disks spinning...

when i try to connect the laptop to an external monitor and use the fn + whatever key you press to switch to an external monitor the externeal monitor does not show anything either

although recently when i boot up my computer i can see a very faint hp logo (on the laptops screen) and then its all black from there on out

could the problem be a light in the laptops screen or maybe the switch inside the notebook that determines whether the notebook is closed or open? (i've heard this was a big problem in these types of notebooks)

    any ideas?

    thanks.

I've got the same problem with my dv4000, but mine works fine when an external monitor is plugged in. I'm replacing the backlight inverter, and about 90% sure that will fix it. If not, I need a whole new LCD monitor.

I'd say same situation with you.
