    I have an HP dv2000 laptop …

It got dropped and after which, nothing worked at all. (blank screen, nothing lit up, completely dead.)

I did a reset on it by several variations of the following reset procedure:

    -removing battery and unplugging
-holding power button down 30 seconds
-plugging back in while holding power button down
    - putting battery back in while still holding power button

Now, the computer will power on somewhat… the lights are flashing on and off. The fan will start up and then stop. The screen remains blank – it never turns on at all.

also - i hear no noises when i turn it on. no beeps. screen is completely blank, its as if only the keyboard of the laptop is turned on, the screen portion is completely "turned off" no lights, no sound, no anything.

Advice? Clearly the system reset did *something* to help….. but now what??

Does anyone know what this issue could be?

Is there anything I can try to do on my own before taking it in?

If you dont have any accidental damage insurance or warranty you can download a Maintenance Guide for your DV2000, disassemble it and see if anything got loose when you dropped it. If you are not comfortable with disassembling the dv2000 then its best to take it in.
