Bought mine in FEB 07, and last week i started noticing some black dots, which at first seemed to be dirty, but they were not, not even dead pixels.

They look like some fungi, underneath the screen. I already tried to clean the screen many times, but it makes no difference at all.

Since I work with photoes, they are getting too evident, since they are many, of different sizes.

    Anyone could help?

Call support and tell them the problem. It's still under warranty so use it. Don't even try to solve the problem, might make it worse. Backup your files now before returning it. Shipping is free so don't worry about the cost. Might get an upgrade at the same time. Good luck.

Yeah, I have the same problem with my nw8440. It used to bother me a lot, now I'm just used to it. It looks like dirt inside the screen. I've debated whether or not it's really worth getting a new screen over. I really can't live without my PC for more than a day :/

I hate screen defects, when I had one they told me at store that it is normal for some models(not hp) then I demanded they send it to repair and I got new one, screen with defects are to be replace as fast as possible, it will be very annoying, you use the screen all the time its not just hard drive noise or something like this
