What exactly did you do to the page file? Change the size, relocate, etc. and how did you do whatever it is you did. There's likely a fairly easy solution to your problem, but it would help if you could explain exactly what you did in order to isolate the problem.

How many times have you rebooted? The first time you reboot after deleting the page file, it will take awhile to boot because Windows will automatically recreate the pagefile. This explaines your first delay at boot. Once this happens though, if you leave it alone your system should return to full speed booting. Perhaps the "changes" you mention are causing the system to recreate the page file every time you reboot. If nothing else, I would just return the settings to "Let Windows manage my virtual memory" and reboot. It will likely be slow again. Run for awhile then reboot again. You should be back to normal. If not, post again.

Well, if you deleted it once, you might as well do it again. Probably the best thing to do is to reset the settings to "let Windows adjust my virtual memory...", then delete the page file and reboot. It will take forever to boot the first time because it will automatically recreate the file, but if you don't change anything again it should return to normal speed booting after that.
