I have a dv4170us, and it seems like ever since I upgraded to XP Pro, my fan seems to come on alot more...and then turn off...and then come back on again maybe 15-20 minutes later...Its not that big of a deal, just slightly annoying when you are in a room of dead silence...no where near as bad as what i was dealing with with my L2000 when I had it.

I have the latest bios update, and have my power management set correctly. Additionally nothing seems to be taking up my CPU time more then average...

Does anyone have any suggestions or patches that I was supposed to install along with the XP upgrade?

Otherwise I absolutely love this thing...the battery life is great, its fast, and the screen is a pleasure to look at for extended periods of time.

Thanks in advance for your help.
