    hi all glad i found this place hope somone can help
    long story i had a dv4000/269ea and the motherboard died so got another from ebay but only advertised as a dv4000 but when i got it it was a dv4000/4200 all fitting diferent so the seler then gave me all the other parts apart from the hard drive i re built the lappy replaced the screen wth mine so i now have a dv4200 but when i power up i get 4 bleeps and the power button keeps flashing its as if the hard drive starts then just stops but i am using the hard drive from my broken lappy could this be the problem or are the hard drives all the same thanks

    Try matching the beeps to this Computer POST / beep codes hope this helps
    Cause:

    This issue can be caused by any of the below situations.

    New hardware conflicting with old hardware.
    Bad or failing hardware device.
    Connections not connected or connected properly.
    Recent electrical storm that caused a surge that damaged computer.
    Other hardware issue.
