Does anyone know if the dv5 series can be equipped with the 9400 core duo processor and the nvidia 9800mgt GPU? I really like the weight and feel of this laptop and the better screens are pretty nice, but all i can seem to find are the 9600 m gs cards. I want a very good graphics quality machine for high res photo editing in a 15.4 inch. The 17 inchers are too big for lugging around. Thank you.

Yes for the T9400; and No for the 9800MGT. The max offered is the 9600M GS and it is not upgradable.

Yeah, the highest you can get is 9600M GT, not GS.

Correct me if I'm wrong but for high-res photo editing (or photo editing in general), CPU/memory is more important than the GPU. In fact, even the 9600 is overkill.

With Photoshop CS4 using the GPU to offload some processing... doesn't seem like an overkill now :p

What's the problem with returning the ltop, and ordering the correct one?
Or, call HP and tell them you received the incorrect setup, IF you actually did order the 9600GT.

You have options instead of just repeating, "can I upgrade?"

    Explain.

I think DV5 would met if you put that graphics card.

A 9600 GT is good though..

How does the 512mb ATI Radeon HD3450 compare to the NVIDIA cards offered in dv5?

You CAN return any HP computer within 21 days, "custom" or off the rack.

So, your comment that HP told you you can't return it, is wrong.

What exactly can't you do with the 9200GS?
Afterall, you used it for 21+ days before you noticed something "wrong".
    What's wrong?

21 days to notice you didn't have the right hardware you ordered?
All it takes is checking the system, which you should look at during the setup process when you first get your computer.

    Ah, forget it.
