    Hello everyone,
I have hp 6090 (i7, 6770m, 8g. ram), few days ago and during gaming, frame rate drops to a single digits, and I observed overheating. after cooling down I noticed that the fan is not working or worked at low speed (fan sound during work appear normal and there is no abnormal noise). I opened the laptop to clean the fan and removed all dirt and dust but that didn't help, sometime the fan is working normally and other time not working or work at only low speed (changing CoolSense didn't make a difference).
Anyone had similar problem, and why the fan is sometimes working normally and sometime don't? Is it a fan problem only or may be a motherboard controller?? and can I replace the fan only without changing the whole fan and the heatsink kit?
    any aid is appreciated, thanks

i got exactly the same problem on my dv6 6003 machine and all this happened after i incidentally overheated the machine playing games on a table covered with a plastic cover ... the machine is working fine on low temperatures but when i try to play a game, heat builds up and after the fan speeds up to manage the rising temp it stops working ... i can suggest u to use RealTemp monitoring program with a feature to alarm u when certain temperature is reached (i set mine to 85 c) to avoid feature damaging ur system .. i think its a faulty fan from sunon and i'm going to replace it asap
