    Hi all,

I m new in these forums so let me go for the small mistakes i make :)

Last night i was using my hp dv6000 laptop and tried to open a video file my system got rebooted instantly and after that I saw a crashed boot screen (HP logo was all distorted, vertical lines on that). Any way i went to the safe mode and uninstall the nvidia drivers, now its working fine with default windows vista home vga driver but the boot screen is still distorted. When i update the nvidia drivers the laptop refuses to go inside the windows. Have to go to safe mode uninstall the driver and it starts working on default vga drivers. Does some know the cure for the this problem.

    Every little will help,

    Kind Regards,

is your gpu nvidia? some nvidia chips are defective. my dv2700 has geforce 8400gs and the temps get ridiculously high.

    updates.

    * i read on HP forums that by installing new bios i can sort out the problem, i did to new version but still no luck.

    * Nvidia drivers are automatically installed every time and i have to go t0 safe mode to uninstall and use the system

    * When i go to bios i can not see anything related to my video card. isn't this strange or i m making any mistake.

    Thanks

The video chip is toast, you're going to need a new motherboard (or reflow this one). And yes it is normal for the BIOS to not contain any info on it.

Maybe because it (or the connection) is damaged, but not completely burned out yet.

Yup, geforce go 7400 also have Nvidia GPU issue.
You are lucky to have this notebook for more than 2 years, many others have a broken GPU a month after their warranty expired.

Try reflowing the GPU, if you did it right it might prolong your notebook for another year.

    hello guys,
wat do u think what should i do now,

    * get a another external vga card.
    * try to fix it (i think it costs £150)
    * sell it parts by parts
    * sell it (whole)

wat do u guys think will be better option, or any other options are welcome as well. If i sell it how much i will get for them as it is in very good condition except the vga problem. It works great on standard vga drivers.

Once agains thanks for ur cooperation.
