im planning to upgrade my hdd but i can't figure out if it is ata6 or ata150?
also anyone tried 7200rpm on their dv6000z?
any brand suggestion? im leaning towards seagate (to play safe)

I believe its Serial ATA(SATA).
You can physically look at the hard drive or use HD tune, NHC, PC wizard, Everest Home Edition to find out the Model #(google the model number and you should be able to find out which interface it is). -

No, it does not have to be the same brand (but I usually shop for compatibility, so I pair them up as close as possible)..........

i believe 32 bit only supports up to 2.5 GB not four

3.5ish. You can put in as much as the laptop's motherboard and bios can support (4 GB) but only 3.5ish will be recognized.
