Is there a disc inside your drive?
If yes, it should be quite normal..
Else, I don't think the drive without disc, will be moving/making a sound when idling at the desktop..
If you require a disc to be inside all the time, I'd suggest you make an iso image of that disc and load it using virtual drive..
There are magiciso, ultraiso.. but need to pay..
Or can use the free daemon tools standard/free edition.. -
nope . not disc in it whatsoever.
i left the pc on for 30minutes idling, on the desktop..
the dvd drive would blinking green making that loading noise, then stop
then do it, then stop oetc etc
i lost count after the 10th time.
this is brand new out of the box everyting is installed, but the drive is always active... i read in the dell forums some people had that issue wtih the studio 15 laptops, but this it he first hp i had in a while , and it's extremely annoying -
Maybe you can try to exercise the drive by opening/closing it for a few times..
Also try using a registry cleaner, like ccleaner and clean up the registries and temporary files..
If all else fails, maybe send back to hp..
