Has anyone been able to tell a difference between 5400 rpm and 7200?

I think awhile back i ran some benchmarks, there may have been a little bit of a jump between the two.. but i cant recall if in the real world it was that noticeable.

EDIT: i took a look at some relative numbers, i think the performance mark diskmark for a 7200 rpm drive was around 388, while on the 5400 it was 255, thats a 35% jump if accurate.
Also, i'm not sure if 7200rpm would drain the battery quicker etc..

I had initially orded it with a single 320gb 5400 rpm, i was thinking of adding a 2nd (primary) 7200 rpm drive.

Also.. are these hp dv7ts using sataI or sataII drives?

    Thanks

yes i feel a difference. bootup times are shaved by about 10 seconds and programs load alot quicker 4 me. and yes you will loose a little battery life but not more than 10 mins under load. SO 7200RPM FTW

The heat holds me big time, though. :) 5400rpm scorches the left palmrest, how much more the 7200

This also sucks, i just placed the order friday, not shipped, but they wont change my order...

I've read that you have to have a second harddrive mounting kit to make it work with dual drives, which is next to impossible to find.

That plus i should have avoided the infinity display apparently (for occasional outside use)..

If i reorder, the $400 off in coupon codes have expired.

Yes me too. Just ordered a HDX16. HP won't let me change my order. I forgot to get the internal TV tuner. I can cancel my order and start again but then I can't use my 25% coupon which saved me $800.

Oh and the 7200 is diff. better.

Yep.. and i wonder how long on average till another deal comes along.

If it werent for the darned infinity display, i'd just let it go and replace the drive.. but after seeing how glossy and reflective it is and trying it in sunlight as well, i'm sold on NOT going infinity.
