    Hi Everyone,

I noticed that everytime I plug in the charger, the screen goes blank. I have to go into standby by hitting the power button and come out of standby for the screen to work again. Not sure why this is happening but I've just kind of dealt with it for the past year. It doesnt seem to be a hardware issue...but I guess I'll leave that up to the forum. I did do a search on google and here to see if there were any solutions.

    Any ideas?

Please see specs from System Information:
System Model HP Envy 13 Notebook PC
    Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU L9400 @ 1.86GHz, 1867 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s)
OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
    Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601
Hardware Abstraction Layer Version = "6.1.7601.17514"

(note this was previously posted on the HP forums and received no responses)

    Thanks all!

    1) Do you encounter the issue when your laptop is already plugged in before you turn it on? Like do you get the black screen when you turn on the laptop if it is already charging?

    2) Do you encounter the issue when your laptop is plugged in when you turn it on, then while using the laptop, you decide to unplug the charger? Does the screen flicker and stay blank?

If it is not a hardware problem, it seems like a graphic card switching issue. Try downloading the latest ATI/AMD graphics driver from HP website and install on your pc.
