    hi,

hoping someone can help me out. the icon in the bottom right corner on the task bar, where you can select between the graphics option (integrated vs ATI), for the past week since i got my envy, i have been able to click on this icon to choose what graphics i want. now i can't. if i go on the icon i see an icon that says intel graphics and media control centre, but nothing happens when i click on it.

is there anything in the services menu that i might have set to manual that could do this? it seems like the ATI option is no longer there.

any ideas how i can fix this?

    thanks.

    well.

can you right click on the desktop and does it show you "switchable graphics" below graphic settings.

'cause that's how I go about swapping.

edit: If you can't you're gonna need to reinstall your graphics drivers.

It could be some active program that preventing the ability to switch.

Try closing all active applications + IM's and then switch.

I had a similar problem before, but I traced it down to a plugin in my media player, fixed it and worked correctly.

hi, i don't have any IMs.

if i go to the start menu i can access switchable graphics through catalist, but it is no longer in my task bar (bottom right) like it used to be. how can i get it back?

the last thing i remember doing was setting some services to manual - any idea if one of those could cause this problem?

ok, now it's a bit weird.

if i set my graphics to ATI card (using the start menu) then i can access switchable graphics from the notification area. when i do this and reset my graphics to power saving intel, after i can no longer access switchable graphics from the taskbar notification area, and i have to go back to start menu.

anyone had this problem? i downloaded the driver again from HP.

A reinstallation of the HP driver package should rectify this issue.

i did that last night but the problem persists...

should i uninstall catalyst using revo and then reinstall it?

or maybe the "tune up" option in HP support assistant?

if not i guess i have to do a system restore.

Perhaps try "driver sweeper" to fully erase the driver? Parts of it is apparently not uninstalling properly.

that driver sweeper seems to get lots of bad reviews... maybe i'll look for something else that does the same thing.

    thanks.
