hey guys im currently looking at both of these laptops as an upgrade from this 5 year old dell.
Some things i prefer from the refreshed envy 14 is that it has a backlit keyboard, but the screen isnt 1080p, not the biggest deal about the screen since this dell one is probably like 64x80 haha. I would probably wait for the hp envy beats refresh if i was going the envy route, anyone know when that'll be?
Onto spec wars
heres the dv6t specs

get the DV6tqe, i was in the same situation as you and i had the envy but ended up returning it. the dv6s 1080p display and anti glare is simply amazing! the bright view 1366 doesnt come anywhere close to it. you can also add a blue ray player to the dv6 if youd like but not the envy. the envy is really nice and flashy and cool looking but i think that the dv6 has alot better specs and options that you would really enjoy.
Dont forget also that there are 33% discount coupons online you can use on the dv6 youll save from 300-500 dollars. -
is the 33% coupon still active? i found a 30% but it expired
-
NBU29176 this one works i just tried it its a 375$ off. try finding more coupons online, if you cant find any use the 375$ off one

Don't sacrifice the 1080p screen just for the looks of the Envy. You look at the screen more than you look at the rest of the laptop
Also don't get the 2720QM unless you specifically need the performance for video editing or something of the like. Get the 2630QM, it's more than enough power. -

If you are buying the DV6T, there is the new 30% coupon (NBP61449) which is better than the 33% coupon. Here is how. During the 33% coupon, the blu ray was not free upgrade(1399-33%=$937). Now its a free upgrade with the 30% coupon (1324-30%=$927).

whats the battery life like on the dv6t i7?
-
i usually always have it plugged in but when its fully charged and i unplugged it to read the battery life it said 3 hours and 20 min. i had the performance mode on and brightness at full. im sure if you go onto power saving mode you can probably squeeze 4 1/2 or maybe even 5? depending on your work. also the 9cell battery will add alot more life to the laptop. 9 cell batt is good if your moving your laptop around alot

Personally, I think the 1080p screen isnt that big of a difference, but a lot of people disagree with me.
I have the DV6t quad, and i love it. If you're gonna use it for movies and video games, then you'd probably want to go with the bigger screen with the DV6t.
You have to find the best coupon tho. When I was buying, I thought the 375 off coupon was amazing, until I ran into the 33% and I ended up saving 600 bucks. -
Doh, how could I miss the free blu-ray upgrade. Called HP and they said they could not change my configuration and canceling would take up to 5 days to process
