Hi, I have a nc6400 with x1300 ati card, and a 3-in-1 NAS Docking station. I just purchased a 22 inch samsung (225bw) monitor and cannot get it to allow me to use the optimal resolution of 1680x1050. I have tried using both the vga and dvi. With or without the samsung driver installed I seem to only be able to get generic display resolutions none of which are 16:10.
I am running Windows Vista Ultimate.
Any help is appreciated

Have you tried using/broadcasting to one monitor at a time? (like just the monitor and not the laptop, or not dual-display, but single display). This solved my resolution problem.

I have also noticed the only way to get a 16:10 resolution is for me to clone the laptop's monitor putting me in 1280x800. The only problem as soon as I close the notebook the external lcd switches to 1280x1024.
I am running out of things to try.
Thanks for the suggestion but in this case it did not get me anywhere different. -
I'm also having the same problem on XP pro with normal docking, tried using new/old ati drivers and installing display drivers to no avail. Used to work flawlessly before reformat. nc6400 here too

My nc6400 with X1300 can run Vista Business on the dock with DVI output to a Dell monitor with no problems (external monitor as primary, notebook as secondary).
Do you have the proper ATI drivers and Catalyst Control Centre for Vista installed?
I don't think you need to install any drivers for the external monitor.
Also, have you tried doing the following:
Right click on desktop > Personalize > Connect to a projector or other external display > Connect Display > Choose option
Of course, to eliminate problems on the laptop side, have you tried it without the docking station?
hp laptop and dvi output, need help
