Hi all
I am a new member here and would appreciate some help please.
I have just been given a hp dv9000 notebook by my brother in law. This notebook does not work and i would like to repair it.I have been on the web and found out that this particular notebook could have a problem with the motherboard because the note book doesn't boot.
I would like to replace the motherboard.the part no. is 444002-001.
I can find numerous motherboards with same part no. but my worry is if i buy a motherboard would the new one suffer with the same problem as the one in situ.
Would greatly appreciate help please

It could happen again, but may take years if at all. Mine was 2 years old when the board went and it was used pretty aggressively.

ok thanks for your reply but do you know if hp solved the problem and produced new boards if so how do we know which one to use
-
No, they never fixed the problem because the nvidia chipsets were partly to blame (which they had no control over). A new board will have the same chipset as before.

oh ok thanks for your help much appreciated.
As i got the notebook for no cost i think it is worth me taking chance on replacing board and keep fingers crossed that it lasts as long as yours did thanks again for your help -
If you can get the new board cheap enough, I'd say go for it.

Cheapest so far about 78 pounds i will go for it thanks again R4000

Here is the Maintenance & Service Guide, which is handy when taking the unit apart.

Just take your time and keep track of all the tiny screws.

From what I've seen, a working motherboard(not yet suffering the gpu issue) usually cost about double what the non-working ones go for on ebay, but if you're spending money to fix it, make sure you get a working one and maybe even upgrade the gpu heat dissipation by using a piece of copper or aluminum instead of the rubber pad thats standard

i've had my dv9035nr for 4 years now... and its still going very strong. Upgraded to win7, 4GB ram and its fast as it always has been. The only issue I've had is my DVDRW died and randomly pops out. The board is great. It does, as it always has, gets hot on the lap, so be careful.

Unfortunately I'm browsing around here because I had to get the 7600 GPU reflowed last week. Seems to have fixed it. I blame myself for the GPU failure, a damn coaster had slipped under the GPU fan, I had no idea until it was too late.
